About

Many professionals of color across industry regularly experience racial microaggressions at work: being called “too aggressive” for simply asking a question in a meeting, hearing yet another comment about your hairstyle, feeling like your contributions are overlooked or being promoted on a slower schedule than your white peers. Racial microaggressions also show up in marketing and communication products: advertising, email marketing campaigns, websites, and more.

Too many of us know the damage racial microaggressions can cause. Too many of our white colleagues do not know what to do.

Join speaker and equity advocate Jodi-Ann Burey for an interactive course that examines racial microaggressions at work and how we can recognize, respond and most importantly, create workplace cultures that push racial microaggressions out of the norm.

What to Expect

Racism is systemic and permeates all aspects of our lives. As a result, racial microaggressions – the everyday slights and indignities that people of color experience in their interactions with white people, can be seen as a predictable and normative part of workplace cultures. See my article on structural racism at work. Knowing that racial microaggressions will occur at work can empower us to identify when they occur, give language to our experiences and create pathways to reduce (and hopefully end) their occurences.

There are two modules for this course to best support professionals who are often racially microaggressed, the microaggressor and bystanders to racial microaggressions:

  • Build Your Confidence to Strategically Navigate Racial Microaggressions at Work (Black, Indigenous, and People of Color [BIPOC] Module)
  • Transforming Your Relationships at Work by Addressing Racial Microaggressions (White Allies Module)

“Jodi-Ann’s workshop was one of the more engaging virtual trainings I’ve participated in (regardless of topic). She quickly built trust and moved the group from awareness to action in a way that didn’t leave room for anyone to escape their personal responsibility or complicity.”
